Your bill should make sense
Every two months, millions of homes in Tamil Nadu get an electricity bill: one number, a few codes, and little explanation. The rules behind that number sit in regulator orders and government notices that almost nobody opens. BillDecoded opens them for you.
Why we built it
Most people find out their bill went up only after it arrives. They don't know that 501 units costs ₹478 more than 500, that the first 200 units are now free, or what a "Govt Subsidy" line on the bill means. That information is public, but it is buried in PDFs. We turn it into a calculator anyone can use and plain answers anyone can read.
What you can do here
- See your bill line by line before it arrives, from the units on your meter.
- Know how close you are to the 500-unit line, and what crossing it costs.
- Understand every line on your TNEB bill, from free units to subsidy.
- Share the answer with family on WhatsApp in one tap.
Made for everyone at home
Large text, big buttons and one number to type, so it works for your parents as well as for you, on any phone. Free to use, no sign-up, no ads.
Numbers you can check
Every rate links to the order it comes from, with the date we last checked it. When a rate changes, the site changes the same day. See how we check rates.
What comes next
Kerala, Karnataka and Maharashtra are next, then Tamil and Hindi versions, and a rooftop solar check worked out from your own bill.
