TNEB online payment: every way to pay your bill

The quickest way is TNPDCL's Quick Pay page: type your consumer number and pay by UPI, QR code, card or net banking, with no account. You can also pay through GPay, PhonePe or Paytm, set up EB AutoPay so your bank pays each bill, or send it by NEFT. Pay by the date on your bill to avoid a surcharge (an extra charge for paying late). (TNEB is the name most people still use; bills now come from TNPDCL, and older ones carry the TANGEDCO name.)

TNEB online payment in short

  • Quick Pay on tnebnet.org needs only your consumer number. Pay by UPI, QR code, card or net banking.
  • TNPDCL also lists its website and app, BBPS apps such as GPay, PhonePe and Paytm, NEFT or RTGS, section office counters, e-Seva centres, post offices, bank counters and the Namma Arasu WhatsApp service. It asks people not to pay any other way.
  • EB AutoPay takes the bill from your bank on the 10th day after billing, at no extra charge.
  • If your bank was debited but TNPDCL's site showed an error or a failed payment, do not pay again. TNPDCL says a broken payment on its site sorts itself out within three working days.

EB AutoPay: let your bank pay the bill

EB AutoPay is TNPDCL's automatic debit (an e-NACH mandate, a standing permission for your bank to pay). Once it is set up, each bill is taken from your bank account on the 10th day after billing. TNPDCL says it is free.

  1. Open the AutoPay page on tnebnet.org and choose Register Mandate. Enter your consumer number.
  2. Check your connection details and pick the start and end dates.
  3. Set a maximum debit amount higher than your usual bill. If a bill is bigger than this limit, the AutoPay fails for that bill.
  4. Confirm with the one-time code sent to your mobile, add your bank details, and approve the mandate on your bank's website.

You get an SMS or email when it is set up and after each payment. If a debit fails, your bank tells you, and you pay that bill another way before the due date. You can cancel the mandate any time from the same page.

Pay the TNEB bill by NEFT or RTGS

In your bank's fund transfer menu, add TNPDCL as a beneficiary (the account you are sending money to), once for each connection:

FieldWhat to enter
Beneficiary nameTNPDCL
Account numberTNEB in capitals, then your consumer number. TNPDCL's example: TNEB094590091100
Account typeCurrent
IFSC (the bank branch code)CNRB0000911 or IDIB000A089

Send exactly the amount due at the time: TNPDCL does not accept a different amount. Check it first on Quick Pay. After the bank settles the payment, you get an SMS and can download the e-receipt. The same route works for application charges such as a new connection or a name transfer, using TNEB and the application number.

When you can pay, and the last date

TNPDCL's online payment hours:

DayOnline payment open
Monday to Friday00:05 to 23:55
Saturday00:05 to 23:30
Sunday00:30 to 23:55

TNPDCL also posts notices when a region's payments are paused for server work, and asks people to pay early rather than on the last date.

The last date is on your bill and bill SMS. Pay after it and a late payment surcharge is added; see TNEB late payment charges. If the supply has not been cut, you can still pay online. If it has, your section office (the local electricity office) handles reconnection.

Pay in advance, or for more than one connection

In advance. If you have no dues and your bills are being worked out on time, you can pay ahead. TNPDCL sets the advance against your next bills on its own, and for 2026-27 TNERC set interest on it at 2.50% a year.

For someone else. You can pay any connection with its consumer number: an owner's, a tenant's or a relative's. In a TNPDCL account you can add up to 24 more connections and pay each one separately.

TNEB payment failed or not showing: what to do

Where you paidWhat to do
TNPDCL's website or appIf your bank was debited but you saw an error or a failed status, do not pay again. TNPDCL says a broken payment sorts itself out within three working days, and a registered user gets the receipt by email.
GPay, PhonePe, Paytm or a bank app (BBPS)Complain through the Complaints option in your bank's BBPS menu, or reach the company that took the payment through bharatbillpay.com.
NEFT or RTGSIf the amount did not match the bill exactly, TNPDCL does not accept it, and the money goes back to the account it came from. Check the amount on Quick Pay and send it again.
EB AutoPayYour bank tells you the debit failed. Pay that bill another way before the due date. If the bill was over your maximum debit amount, that is why it failed.

Fake disconnection messages. TNPDCL warns that messages saying your power will be cut tonight because your last bill was "not updated", asking you to contact a number or send a payment screenshot, are not from it. Pay only through the ways listed above. More in TNEB bill status.

What people report

Shown as failed, but the money went

One person's payment showed as failed on the website after the money had left their account. The advice in the thread was not to pay again and to log back in to check. TNPDCL's own figure is three working days to match it up.

App status slow to change

In one thread, people said the bill status after a GPay payment was slow to update, and suggested turning on the official site's email alerts.

A refund, then the bill reopened

In another, a payment that was refunded meant the bill was reopened to be paid; the thread said within a week.

Questions people ask

Can I make a TNEB online payment without login?

Yes. TNPDCL's Quick Pay page (tnebnet.org/qwp/qpay) needs only your consumer number and the captcha. You can pay by UPI, QR code, card or net banking.

How do I make an EB bill payment with Google Pay or PhonePe?

Pick electricity bills under Bharat Bill Pay (BBPS, the national bill payment system) in the app and enter your consumer number. TNPDCL lists BBPS apps such as GPay, PhonePe and Paytm as an authorised way to pay. If the payment does not show, complain through the Complaints option in your bank's BBPS menu, or through bharatbillpay.com.

Is there a charge for paying the TNEB bill online?

EB AutoPay has no extra charge, TNPDCL says. For card payments through a payment gateway, TNPDCL's FAQ says each gateway's bank charges are shown before you pay. TNPDCL charges nothing for NEFT or RTGS, though your bank may have its own fee. It does not publish a fee for other ways.

What is the last date to pay the TNEB bill?

The date on your bill or bill SMS. After it, a late payment surcharge is added. If your supply has not been cut you can still pay online; if it has, go to the section office. See late payment charges.

How do I get a receipt for an online payment?

Download it from TNPDCL's e-Receipt page (tnebnet.org/awp/ereceipt) using three details from the payment: consumer number, receipt number and payment date. For NEFT, the e-receipt appears there once the bank settles the payment.

Can I pay someone else's TNEB bill?

Yes. TNPDCL's FAQ says you can pay for any number of connections, including an owner's, tenant's, relative's or friend's. You only need their consumer number.

Can I pay my TNEB bill in advance?

Yes, if there are no dues pending and your bills are being worked out on time. The advance is set off against your next bills on its own. For 2026-27 TNERC set interest on advance payments at 2.50% a year.
