In short

  • All five state power companies (discoms) in Uttar Pradesh, PVVNL, MVVNL, DVVNL, PUVVNL and KESCo, bill homes on the same rates for homes (category LMV-1), set by the state regulator, UPERC, on 2 July 2026.
  • A UPPCL city home in Uttar Pradesh pays ₹5.50 a unit up to 150 units a month, ₹6.00 from 151 to 300 and ₹6.50 above 300. PVVNL's official calculator charges every unit at the higher rate once the month crosses into a higher slab.
  • A UPPCL bill also has ₹110 a kW a month in fixed charge (₹90 for rural homes), the month's fuel surcharge (-9.17% for November 2026) and, on a city bill, 5% electricity duty on the energy and fixed charges. UPPCL lifeline homes (1 kW, up to 100 units) pay ₹3.00 a unit and ₹50 a kW a month.
  • A 2 kW UPPCL city home using 200 units pays ₹1,361 in November 2026 on PVVNL's method, and 301 units cost ₹150 more than 300. Slab by slab, 200 units would be ₹1,289.

Which company is yours? PVVNL, MVVNL, DVVNL, PUVVNL or KESCo

The company's name is printed at the top of your bill. UPPCL's portal serves five state power companies. Your district decides which one supplies you, except in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Agra and Kanpur, where the area within the district decides:

  • MVVNL, Madhyanchal (central): 19 districts, including Lucknow.
  • PVVNL, Pashchimanchal (west): 14 districts, including Meerut and Ghaziabad.
  • PUVVNL, Purvanchal (east): 21 districts, including Varanasi and Gorakhpur.
  • DVVNL, Dakshinanchal (south): 21 districts, including Agra, Jhansi and Kanpur rural.
  • KESCo, Kanpur Electricity Supply Company: Kanpur city.

You don't need to pick one in the calculator: the UPERC order sets one rate schedule for all five, so the rates are the same whichever sends the bill.

Greater Noida is supplied by NPCL under its own licence, which this calculator does not cover. In Agra, Torrent Power runs supply for DVVNL. The full list is on the Uttar Pradesh page.

What is the UPPCL bill for 100 units?

₹738 at 2 kW in a city. At 1 kW, a home using up to 100 units is on the lifeline rate of ₹3.00 (unless moved off it after a financial year above 1,200 units) and pays ₹335; at 101 units the same home pays ₹638.

What is the UPPCL bill for 250 units?

₹1,648 for a 2 kW city home on PVVNL's method: all 250 units at ₹6.00, plus the fixed charge, surcharge and duty. Slab by slab it would be ₹1,576. A 2 kW rural home, before electricity duty: ₹1,299, or ₹1,097 slab by slab.

What is the UPPCL bill for 300 units?

₹1,936 for a 2 kW city home: ₹1,800 for 300 units at ₹6.00, plus the fixed charge, surcharge and duty, on PVVNL's method. At 1 kW it is ₹1,830; at 5 kW, ₹2,252. Slab by slab, the 2 kW bill would be ₹1,864.

What is the UPPCL bill for 500 units in UP?

₹3,325 at 2 kW in a city. Above 300 units PVVNL's official calculator charges every unit at ₹6.50; slab by slab it would be ₹3,110.

For your own units and load, use the calculator at the top.

Why does a UPPCL bill jump after 150 and 300 units?

In PVVNL's official calculator, when your month goes over 150 or 300 units, every unit moves to the higher rate, including the ones below the slab limit. So the bill jumps at the limit instead of rising a little.

₹1,936300 units
₹2,086301 units
₹150for 1 unit more

That is a 2 kW city home. At 301 units the energy charge alone goes up by ₹156.50, because all 301 units are at ₹6.50 instead of ₹6.00. Going from 150 to 151 units adds ₹78.

If your bill is worked this way, a home that lands just over a limit each month can save by keeping under it: read your meter a few days before the reading date. Slab by slab, going one unit over a limit costs only that unit.

Some calculators charge each slab at its own rate instead. For 200 units at 2 kW that gives an energy charge of ₹1,125; PVVNL's official calculator gives ₹1,200.

The tariff order's principles mention a "telescopic tariff" (page 358), and telescopic usually means exactly that: each slab at its own rate. But the order's rate schedule does not say how a month that crosses a slab is billed, and PVVNL's official calculator, the only official working we have found, charges every unit at one rate. We follow the official calculator and show the slab-by-slab figure beside it, so you can match whichever your bill uses.

PVVNL bill calculator, run on 31 Oct 2026; UPERC Tariff Order for the State Discoms, 2 Jul 2026 (FY 2026-27), pages 358, 419 and 422.

Two jumps. A 2 kW city home's monthly UPPCL bill, everything included, with the November 2026 fuel surcharge of -9.17%. Past 150 and past 300 units, every unit moves to the higher rate. Units used in the month along the bottom. Worked from the UPERC order of 2 July 2026, the way PVVNL's official calculator works it out.

How to calculate your UPPCL bill

  1. Energy charge. Units used in the month times the rate of the slab they fall in, as PVVNL's official calculator works it out. A 1 kW home at 100 units or less pays the lifeline rate, unless it was moved to the normal rates after a financial year above 1,200 units.
  2. Fixed charge. ₹110 for each kW of contracted load in a city, ₹90 on the rural schedule, ₹50 for lifeline. You pay it even in a month with no units. Contracted load is the load your connection is sanctioned for, in kilowatts (kW).
Some meters (time-of-day or demand-recording meters) also record your maximum demand, the highest load you drew in the month. For those meters, the order sets the fixed charge on the higher of that demand and 75% of your contracted load, and demand above your contracted load is charged again at the same rate.
So with such a meter, a 2 kW connection is charged for at least 1.5 kW even if the meter records less. Without one, or if you send in your own reading without the maximum demand, the fixed charge is on your full contracted load, which is what this calculator uses.
  3. Fuel surcharge (FPPAS). A percentage of the energy and fixed charges, set every month. For November 2026 it is -9.17%, so it takes money off the bill.
  4. Electricity duty. 5% of the energy and fixed charges on a city bill, as PVVNL's official calculator works it out.
That calculator shows no fuel surcharge, and we have not found a published rule on whether duty is also charged on the surcharge. If it is, duty goes up or down by 5% of the surcharge. With November's minus surcharge, the 200-unit bill above would be ₹6.51 lower: ₹1,354 instead of ₹1,361.
  5. Round to the rupee. The tariff order says bills are rounded to the nearest rupee.

Meter rent. The tariff order sets no meter rent for homes, and PVVNL's official calculator adds none. Some calculators add a meter rent; we have not found one for homes in an official document, so this calculator leaves it out.

Enter your units and load in the calculator at the top to see each of these lines for your own bill.

Rounding: UPERC Tariff Order for the State Discoms, 2 Jul 2026 (FY 2026-27), page 413, clause 9; billable demand and demand above contracted load, pages 410 and 411, clauses 6 and 7(ii)(a). Surcharge on the energy and fixed charges: UPERC (Multi Year Tariff for Distribution) Regulations, 2025, regulation 16.1(2), "on RATE", and the order's LMV-1 schedule, which defines the rate as "the fixed and energy charges" (page 418).

Does this UPPCL bill calculator match PVVNL's official calculator?

Yes. With the fuel surcharge set to 0%, because PVVNL's calculator leaves it out, our calculator gives the same totals as PVVNL's for these three bills:

2 kW home, one month, fuel surcharge 0%
UnitsEnergyFixedDutyPVVNL total
120₹660₹220₹44₹924
200₹1,200₹220₹71₹1,491
400₹2,600₹220₹141₹2,961

If your own bill differs by more than a rupee or two, check the month's fuel surcharge and any arrears line first, then ask your discom office.

Why other UPPCL bill calculators give a different number

We checked the calculators that rank on Google for "UPPCL bill calculator" on 31 Oct 2026. The common differences:

  • One method only. Some charge each slab at its own rate, the usual meaning of telescopic. PVVNL's official calculator charges every unit at the rate of the slab the month falls in, which gives a higher bill once you pass 150 units. We show both.
  • Duty on the energy charge only. The official calculator works the 5% duty on the energy and fixed charges together.
  • No fuel surcharge, or a fixed one. The surcharge changes every month and is often a minus figure; for November 2026 it is -9.17%.
  • No order date. Check that a calculator names the order it uses. The rates here are from the UPERC order of 2 July 2026.

On a city bill above 150 units, enter your units and load in the calculator at the top and compare the energy charge on your bill with the two it shows. If yours matches the first, every unit was charged at one rate, as PVVNL's calculator does; if it matches the slab-by-slab figure, your bill was worked slab by slab. Up to 150 units, both methods give the same energy charge.

The fuel surcharge (FPPAS) changes every month

UPPCL works out the surcharge from what it paid for power three months earlier. If power cost more than the tariff order assumed, the surcharge is a plus figure; if less, it is a minus figure and comes off your bill. The rules cap it at 10% either way in a month, unless the Commission sets another limit.

City, rural or lifeline: which one are you?

Rural. The rural rates apply to homes that get supply on the "rural schedule". The tariff order says the State Load Despatch Centre (SLDC) in Lucknow defines and notifies that schedule.

So it depends on the supply schedule your area is on, not on whether you call it a village. If you are not sure, ask your discom office.

PVVNL's official calculator has no rural option, and we have not seen an official working of a rural bill. So for rural homes this calculator shows two figures, every unit at the month's rate (as PVVNL works city bills) and slab by slab.

Both are before electricity duty, because PVVNL's calculator is our source for the 5% duty and we have not found the State's duty rate for rural homes in an official document.

City (urban). Every other metered home in the state discoms' areas.

Lifeline. The order defines lifeline consumers as connections of 1 kW using up to 100 units a month. They pay ₹3.00 a unit and ₹50 fixed, in a city or on the rural schedule. The calculator applies this by itself when you enter 1 kW and 100 units or less, as PVVNL's calculator does.

If a lifeline home uses more than 1,200 units in a financial year (April to March) on correct meter readings, it moves to the normal rates from the next year; tick the box under the calculator if that has happened to yours.

A connection of 10 kW or more with a time-of-day or demand meter is billed in kVAh, a different meter unit. This calculator covers 1 to 9 kW; at 10 kW or more, ask your discom office for the kVAh rates.

Questions people ask

How is the UPPCL bill calculated?

Take the units for the month and find the slab they fall in. PVVNL's official calculator charges every unit at that slab's rate: for a city home ₹5.50 up to 150 units, ₹6.00 from 151 to 300 and ₹6.50 above 300. Add ₹110 for each kW of contracted load (with a meter that records maximum demand, the higher of that demand and 75% of contracted load, and demand above contracted load is charged again).

Then add the month's fuel surcharge (FPPAS) as a percentage of those two, and, for a city home, 5% electricity duty on them. Round the total to the rupee.

A 1 kW home using 100 units or less is billed at the lifeline rate instead, unless it was moved to the normal rates after a financial year above 1,200 units.

What is the electricity rate per unit in UP in 2026?

For a city home, ₹5.50 a unit up to 150 units a month, ₹6.00 from 151 to 300 and ₹6.50 above 300. For a rural home, ₹3.35, ₹3.85, ₹5.00 and ₹5.50. A lifeline home (1 kW, up to 100 units) pays ₹3.00.

These are the rates in the tariff order of 2 July 2026 from UPERC, the state regulator, for all five state power companies.

What is the 1 unit electricity cost in UP (1 unit bijli ka rate)?

The energy rate for a city home is ₹5.50 to ₹6.50 a unit. With the fixed charge, fuel surcharge and duty, a 2 kW city home pays about ₹7.38 a unit all in at 100 units and ₹6.45 at 300 units (₹6.21 slab by slab), at the November 2026 surcharge of -9.17%, on PVVNL's method. A 1 kW home using up to 100 units pays the lifeline rate of ₹3.00, unless it was moved to the normal rates after a financial year above 1,200 units.

What is the UPPCL bill for 200 units?

₹1,361 for a 2 kW city home in November 2026 on PVVNL's method: ₹1,200 for 200 units at ₹6.00, ₹220 fixed charge, -₹130.21 fuel surcharge and ₹71 duty. Slab by slab it would be ₹1,289. For a 2 kW rural home, before electricity duty: ₹1,072 with every unit at the month's rate, or ₹870 slab by slab.

300 unit bijli bill kitna aayega in UP?

₹1,936 for a 2 kW city home in November 2026 on PVVNL's method: all 300 units at ₹6.00, plus the fixed charge, fuel surcharge and duty. At 301 units it gives ₹2,086, because it charges every unit at ₹6.50.

Slab by slab, 300 units would be ₹1,864 and 301 units ₹1,870. For a 2 kW rural home, before electricity duty: ₹1,526 with every unit at the month's rate, or ₹1,324 slab by slab.

What is FPPAS on my UPPCL bill?

FPPAS is the fuel and power purchase adjustment surcharge. Each month UPPCL works out how much more or less it paid for power three months earlier than the tariff order assumed, and passes that on as a percentage of your energy and fixed charges.

It can be a minus figure: for November 2026 it is -9.17%. The rules cap it at 10% either way, unless the Commission sets another limit.

Is the bill the same for PVVNL, MVVNL, DVVNL, PUVVNL and KESCo?

Yes. The UPERC order sets one rate schedule for all five state power companies (discoms): Pashchimanchal (PVVNL), Madhyanchal (MVVNL), Dakshinanchal (DVVNL), Purvanchal (PUVVNL) and KESCo in Kanpur.

So this one calculator works as a PVVNL, MVVNL, DVVNL, PUVVNL or KESCo bill calculator. Noida Power Company (NPCL) is not in this order's list, so this calculator does not cover it.

For a home in Maharashtra, use the MSEDCL bill calculator.

For a home in Gujarat on PGVCL, DGVCL, MGVCL or UGVCL, use the Gujarat electricity bill calculator.

What is the fixed charge on a UPPCL bill for 1, 2 or 3 kW?

For a city home, ₹110, ₹220 and ₹330 a month for 1, 2 and 3 kW. On the rural schedule, ₹90, ₹180 and ₹270.

A lifeline home (1 kW, up to 100 units) pays ₹50. Part of a kW counts as a whole one, so 2.5 kW is charged as 3 kW.

These are on your contracted load. With a meter that records maximum demand, the charge is on the higher of the demand recorded and 75% of your contracted load, and demand above your contracted load is charged again at the same rate.

Is there a discount for a prepaid smart meter?

Yes. The tariff order gives prepaid connections a 2% discount on the energy and fixed charges, and sets a charge of ₹10 for each token. Separately, postpaid homes get 1% off the same charges when they pay by the due date with no arrears.
